Preparing the body for conception
Fertility is one of the areas where Chinese medicine has the longest history — and where the combination of herbs and acupuncture often achieves the best results. Our goal is to bring your body into the best possible condition to conceive and carry a pregnancy: regulating the cycle, supporting ovarian response and egg quality, improving blood flow to the uterus and ovaries, and reducing the stress that so often accompanies the fertility journey.
Many patients come to us after months or years of treatment elsewhere — multiple IUI and IVF cycles, poor response to medication, low ovarian reserve or repeated miscarriage. Others want to start with a gentler approach before considering assisted reproduction. Ni-Fei Hsieh, L.Ac. specializes in fertility and sexual health for both women and men.
Your first visit is a long one. As one patient remembered: "I remember his thoroughness in asking me questions related to my health… He also asked me how I feel — I realized that my mental state of mind was just as important to him."

Recurrent miscarriage
Strengthening the body before trying again, then supporting early pregnancy.
Male fertility
Acupuncture and herbs for sperm health and sexual function — fertility is a couple's journey.
What a fertility program looks like
Every plan is individual, but our patients' experiences show the typical shape:
- Preparation (3–6 months): acupuncture 2–3 times a week and daily herbs — decoction or powder — adjusted as your cycle changes
- During IVF: we coordinate with your clinic's calendar; herbs are paused or adjusted as needed around medications
- Around transfer: sessions before and after, often three times a week
- Early pregnancy: support through the first trimester, including help with nausea; then visits every 2–3 weeks if all is well
It is a commitment of time and energy. Patients who have completed it often say what Karen J. wrote after the birth of a healthy baby boy: "All of the sacrifices I made during those six months of Chinese Medicine treatments were worth it!"

Fertility acupuncture questions
How long before IVF should I start acupuncture?
Ideally about three months or more, because eggs develop over roughly three months before ovulation. Even if your transfer is sooner, acupuncture around the transfer can still be helpful.
Can I take Chinese herbs during IVF?
Herbs are very helpful during preparation. During active medication phases we coordinate carefully and may pause or adjust herbs. Always tell both us and your fertility clinic everything you are taking.
Do you treat male infertility?
Yes. We treat fertility and sexual health issues for men as well as women, using acupuncture, herbs and lifestyle guidance.
Should I continue acupuncture after a positive pregnancy test?
Many patients continue through the first trimester to support the pregnancy and ease nausea, then come less often. We use only points and herbs that are appropriate during pregnancy.
